Frank, you are using the word “evangelical” in a generic sense. You are using it to mean Franklin Graham’s warped take on Christianity. Evangelical means, or a least it once meant “of or according to the teaching of the gospel of the Christian religion.” While you have departed from Christianity, Graham has warped it. You are acting a great deal more like a Christian should act than is Franklin Graham, but neither of you is “evangelical.” I consider myself an evangelical Christian and object when the term is misused. If you misuse the word evangelical then what term are you going to use for those of us who believe the Scriptures and at least try to live according to the teachings of Jesus? Your Dad and Billy Graham were each evangelical Christians. They tried to live according to the words of Jesus.
Hey Frank, Your question “We must not let evangelicals off the hook for supporting Putin”. Sounds good but what’s your plan to do that?
P.S. How can people save the planet by having more children? A tsunami of people is the problem and the cause of global climate disaster.
Dear Randy, Which words of Jesus? Biblical scholar, Bart Ehrman has a lot of words to say about this! Which teachings of Jesus? The Bible you read today is full of errors. Though I still adore the “Lords Prayer and the Beautitudes, I am drawn to the writings of Biblical New Testament scholar Bart Ehrman and Human/Animal biologists: Robert Sapolsky and Frans De Waal. Until we truly put on our “thinking caps,” and figure out our commonality to get a glimpse of peace on earth….we will resort to tribalism -which results in murder/death. Prayers for Ukraine, Myanmar, and everywhere else where there is violence (including the USA). Blessings and Namaste.
