  • ‘It makes you wonder what the thirty pieces of silver were that Speaker Pelosi promised for this betrayal,’ Graham wrote in a Facebook post on Thursday
  • In the Facebook post, Graham, an ardent supporter of Trump, acknowledged that ‘January 6 was a low point in his presidency’
  • According to the New Testament, Judas Iscariot, a disciple of Jesus, is said to have received 30 silver coins from the Pharisees to betray Christ
  • On Twitter, people reacted angrily to Graham’s post, saying they were offended by his apparent likening of President Trump to Jesus Christ
  • Trump was impeached a second time Wednesday by 232-197 vote as 10 Republicans joined Democrats to charge him with incitement of insurrection
  • Exactly a week after the MAGA mob stormed Capitol Hill, Trump entered history as the first president to be impeached twice

Franklin Graham, the evangelical preacher, son of the Rev. Billy Graham and ardent supporter of President Trump, compared the 10 Republican lawmakers who voted in favor of impeachment on Wednesday to Judas, who betrayed Jesus Christ.

In a lengthy Facebook post, Graham lashed out at the 10 members of Congress who joined the Democrats to impeach the president a second time – the only time in US history that a sitting commander-in-chief was impeached twice.

‘Shame, shame on the ten Republicans who joined with Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats in impeaching President Trump yesterday,’ Graham wrote on Thursday.

He then added: ‘It makes you wonder what the thirty pieces of silver were that Speaker Pelosi promised for this betrayal.’

According to the New Testament, Judas Iscariot, a disciple of Jesus, is said to have received 30 silver coins from the Pharisees in exchange for agreeing to hand him over before the Last Supper.

Caught between the beauty of his grandchildren and grief over a friend’s death, Frank Schaeffer finds himself simultaneously believing and not believing in God—an atheist who prays. Schaeffer wrestles with faith and disbelief, sharing his innermost thoughts with a lyricism that only great writers of literary nonfiction achieve. Schaeffer writes as an imperfect son, husband and grandfather whose love for his family, art and life trumps the ugly theologies of an angry God and the atheist vision of a cold, meaningless universe. Schaeffer writes that only when we abandon our hunt for certainty do we become free to create beauty, give love and find peace. Available now at Amazon.

In 1998, Frank Schaeffer was a bohemian novelist living in “Volvo driving, higher-education worshipping” Massachusetts with two children graduated from top universities. Then his youngest child, straight out of high school, joined the United States Marine Corps. Written in alternating voices by eighteen-year-old John and his father, Frank, Keeping Faith takes readers in riveting fashion through a family’s experience of the Marine Corps: from being broken down and built back up on Parris Island (and being the parent of a child undergoing that experience), to the growth of both father and son and their separate reevaluations of what it means to serve. Available now at Amazon.

Come to think of it, If Jesus had lived to be 75 years old he might have kinda looked like Trump. Dyed comb over, jowly splotchy complexion… ( not easy to be an aging messiah)
So FG might be on to something.
