Pete Buttigieg has a long-term generational view. He is not reacting to the media outrage cycle of the day but thinking about making the planet and our country livable for his generation.

Okay. I’ve completely dismissed Buttigieg just as I did von Clownstick. in 2016. I’ll study this unknown candidate in earnest. Von Clownstick must be jettisoned at any cost. I’m a 67-1/2 years-old male. Thanks for the tip, Frank !
Correction by Bruce Kopetz to my earlier comment: I just read Pete Buttigieg is a “devout Christian”. This being the case–with my being a “devout” anti-theist–I must remove Buttigieg from any list of Democratic prospects in the 2020 U.S. presidential contest. This makes him a non-starter. Nice try, Frank.
What I have seen and heard of him is Impressive. At the end of the day nonetheless I will be for whoever has the best chance of beating Trump. Trump’s defeat is not a forgone conclusion and we better not forget that. If it does turn out to be him that will be all the better.
I like the fact that Pete is inspired by his faith and not in the Evangelical camp. I can relate to that as a devout Orthodox Christian who is called to my progressive Democratic politics as an environmental activist by my faith. However, you need to research this guy better, Frank. There are valid critiques you can find. They are revealing about the substance of his views. The critique you will find of his autobiography is most telling. His experience with racism in his police department and how he handled it is disturbing. Also, I can’t accept that such an intelligent person living in a suburb of Chicago didn’t know when he said, “All lives Matter,” that it was code for, “Black Lives Really Don’t.” Although that’s how he explains it now. Last, but not least, he backpedals on his positions when pushed in an attempt to use the buzz words “MFA” and “GND” while being willing to settle for whatever. But he’s a great talker! I will stick with Bernie here in NH, who is polling higher with millennials of all races than any other candidate. He’s no young, fresh, diverse face, but he is clearly the favorite of those who are.
While Pete Buttigeig has an impressive biography and represents another historical shift in American culture, I find that he seems to be very vague about what he would do to deal with the problems he would face. He also doesn’t have strong African American support due to the problems that exist in South Bend. If he wants to win he needs to address this problem.
