While the enabling Republicans are stuck with the misogynist-in-chief-groper, Democrats have the luxury of an entire roster of amazing, brave, vibrant, brilliant, and articulate strong women presidential candidates– any one of whom I’d be thrilled and proud to have as my president. They face a struggle. Let’s make sure they win that fight for us all.
During the 2016 presidential race, Hillary Clinton was “abrasive and shrill.” She was “aloof and unlikable.” Okay, so what will be the Republicans’ and media’s excuse for dismissing every single one of the 6 female Democratic Party presidential candidates now?
This 66-year-old white male says let’s get over this sexist mess RIGHT NOW! A man who speaks authoritatively is seen as confident while a woman who does the same is called arrogant or lecturing. BS. You pigs just hate women. Period. I’m with you sisters. Lead sisters lead!
Yes, the media is sexist to the core. Yes, America is moronic. Within 24 hours of Senator Kamala Harris’s campaign kickoff, critics were bringing up her onetime relationship with California politician, Willie Brown- a common tactic faced by women that sexualizes and reduces their successes to a relationship with a man.
Women tend to be viewed as unlikable based on their ambition. Harvard researchers found in 2010 that voters regarded “power-seeking” women with contempt and anger, but saw power-seeking men as stronger and more competent. The hell with that!
Amy Klobuchar is the latest woman to suffer the male/female double standard. Kicking off her campaign she faces headlines about her well-known reputation in the Senate as a tough boss. In male candidates being a “You’re fired!” demanding boss is called a “strength.” In a woman it’s unseemly.
Shame on the media! Shame on the Republicans! Shame on us!
Let’s make 2020 The Real Year Of The Woman!
