What’s the state of the union? There is none. What we have is the end game on planetary destruction by corporations and a dumb population that elected a reality TV small time crook who denies climate change. Everything else is a footnote. We are in irrecoverable decline.
We don’t need a state of the union speech to know what it is: billionaires get the breaks, Roman Catholic white kids think it’s OK to wear Trump hats that are symbols of hate to “pro-life” anti-woman rallies, and federal workers are bankrupted for another symbol of hate: the wall.
A hedge fund billionaire, who saved hundreds of millions in taxes thanks to the Republican billionaire tax cut, just purchased a Central Park penthouse for $238 million, the most anyone has ever paid for a home in the USA. Meanwhile our Coast Guard, FBI, TSA, and air traffic controllers are using food pantries and losing homes. Welcome to Trump/Republican “values.” That’s the state of the union.
The state of the union is that the Republican Party has enabled a monster con artist who only does favors for his own kind to shatter our union to the point where we are at risk of becoming a theocracy controlled by white evangelicals and Trump hat wearing Roman Catholic “pro-lifers” who taunt Native Americans.
There is no state of the union because Trump has broken our union. He’s attacked federal workers, their families and communities. He is endangering America and making hate the new normal. He’s sold us to a dark ecological future. That’s the state of the “union.”
After years of a hateful lunatic in the presidency, how do we make our way back into love, beauty and creation? Preach it, Frank!
Dear Frank Schaeffer:
But do you rally the working class to put those planetary-gobbling Corporations under the administrative control of those who must live with the consequences of their actions?
Crickets!
