2016 was jinxed political food poisoning, so no Hillary, Bernie, or Biden for 2020 please, just fresh faces!

January 27, 20193 commentsFrank Schaeffer

The last thing Democrats need in 2020 is a white male candidate (Bernie) who would be 79 on taking office. Period. We need a fresh — preferably female — brain to lead the fight to bury Trumpism. The political year of 2016 was jinxed. The last thing we need is another round with Hillary and to be reminded that her husband was an abuser of women too, as we go Round 2 with Trump.

Nor do we need the has-been older Biden. We need a fresh start!

I have nothing against Bernie, Hillary and Joe– but they lost or didn’t run, or divided the party more than they brought it together.

In 2020 we are fighting for our lives. We don’t need loyalty to the past but only to the future. That future must be new.

I’ve been thinking about this very thing. There is fresh blood, but I can’t overlook the experience of Biden and Sanders. The trouble is that those of us in the older generation (GenGeezer) ***like*** Biden and respond to Sanders’ proposals. So it’s incumbent on us to get out of the geezer mindset of sticking to an outdated idea and start thinking progressively.
At this point we’ve got a very wide field—of women as well as men—all of whom are infinitely qualified. But let’s bring something into focus:
If people think they don’t want traditional politicians (whatever that means to any one person), we must acknowledge that political expertise is absolutely nonnegotiable. To that end, we’ve got several possibilities—Warren, of course; Merkel of Oregon, and, lately, Bennet of Colorado who made a promising, sane, and forceful speech on 01.24.19 but who is relatively unknown. There are others, but I think we need to examine VERY CAREFULLY the experience and breadth of knowledge of the possibilities.
People who rebel against their conception of a “politician” and advocate for an inexperienced novice, have to be persuaded of the naivete of that position: You don’t want to get on a 747 with a 14-year old Civil Air Patrol cub pilot at the controls.

We’ve GOT TO HAVE EXPERIENCED POLITICIANS.

But keep up the speeches. We’ve GOT to have sane voices mentoring the uninformed.

Dear Frank Schaeffer:

The DNC brought its woes upon itself!

The committee allowed itself to be bought by H Clinton, the darling of the MIC/Intelligence_Community racket, and symbol of corrupt Washington Insiderism. It torpedoed Sanders’ campaign — enormously popular with YOUTH [who mistakenly think he is a socialist]. It then created a fictitious anti-Russian narrative.

The Democrat and Republican parties alike are unfit to govern OR to hold the citizenship/allegiance of the 90% that it so blithely claims. Land alive, Frank — you still can’t bring yourself to admit what everyone knows — the Convention was rigged against Sanders. Now you’re crying, ‘but he wasn’t elected …’

If you really want ‘New,’ aim high! Go for a Second, United States Republic in which the powers of Corporation and State are separated!

Epiphany Blessings!
