You can be rich and stupid. It has become increasingly obvious that the fortunes of the 1 percent haven’t grown through works alone. A confluence of larger factors — globalization, the quick uptake of new technology, government regulations that favor large corporations and capital — have operated together to produce this blossoming of billionaires. It’s a bloom that smells a bit rancid when compared with the downward-trending economic fortunes of almost everyone else.
Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign was built in no small part on his supposed achievements as a real estate magnate and business leader, along with his billionaire status — although the exact details of his net worth were and remain oddly opaque. We’re finally getting sick of the Kylie Jenners, Elon Musks and Trumps of the world. It is time for a revolt against the revolting rich and stupid.

Donald Trump is now officially a traitor to these United States.
David Cay Johnston and others have more than demonstrated to anyone interested in the facts that Donald Trump was never a billionaire, but a broke con man who laundered money for criminals through his real estate company. This fool ran as a vanity campaign to boost his sagging brand. What a tragedy this man was elected President by delusional religious folks who ignored (or embraced) his racist nationalism with claims he was God’s chosen leader. It’s no wonder there are many Nazis candidates running for office under the Republican Party, the so-called family values party. Where will this all end unless folks of goodwill vote out moral corruption?
Thank you Frank. I agree with you on “rich & stupid” being a wrong-headed measurement of success. But that’s how some stupid people measure success alone. Nelson Mandela used a different metric to an eventual success overcoming a ton of obstacles. A great number of people have been recognizing that it takes more humane traits to encompass a bigger society’s success. Since you’ve been on both sides of religion you’ve become wiser & successful. Well done! Thank you again for being there.
