If you’ve been following this new leg of my Road Trip, you know I recently travelled to the beautiful mountain hamlet of Ouray, Colorado to speak at San Juans Summit, a gathering put together by Common Good Christians, a group of progressive faith leaders who want to reclaim their faith –and their vote– from the grip of the hypocritical right. If you haven’t watched my videos with Common Good Christians Executive Director Samir Selmanović, best-selling author and pastor John Pavlovitz, or Entrepreneur and Therapist Heather Lundy, please take a few minutes to do so.
I also gave a talk entitled “Vote for the Common Good” in which I outline what I think is the greatest threat to our democracy: the weaponization of the evangelical vote to destroy the gains that we have made for women, the LGBTQ community, and for people of color, and how we must take our country back by defeating this bloc at the polls in 2018 and 2020. This work is essential to reclaiming our democracy and our values and I couldn’t be more pleased to be involved with a group who is working to do just that.
Common Good Christians is putting their faith behind a brand new initiative called “Vote Common Good,” which you can find out more about at VoteCommonGood.com, on Facebook at facebook.com/votecommongood and on Twitter at twitter.com/@VoteCommon. I met a lot of wonderful, dynamic people at San Juans Summit, and I was excited to be able to catch up with my friend, Author, Pastor, Speaker, and Goodness Conspirator Doug Pagitt to talk about Common Good Christians and the Vote Common Good initiative. I’ve also included an extended interview with my friend Heather Lundy about her journeys in the evangelical world and her experiences with growing grace.
Meet Doug and get ready to Vote Common Good this November.

Dear Frank:
Once again, you back identity politics. Apparently, there’s nothing so wrong here that a good election or two can’t fix.
It’s been a long while since you’ve made a peep about the world refugee crisis. And I don’t recall your publishing anything about the US public school teacher revolt.
You simply cannot continue ignoring teachers, the buying of corrupt auto-union executives by corporations, the anti-strike, anti-worker policies of Democrat oriented unions, etc. and retain any capital with the working class.
Sooner or later — and I’m guessing sooner rather than later — you’re going to see massive civil unrest the likes of which has not been seen since WW I. Where will you be when it happens, Frank?
Will you support the working class then, OR — will you support turning guns on the US population at large? Unless you amend your ways, I’m saying that the first won’t be your option.
Pentecostal blessings!
Thanks, Franks for taking the time to do the hard work of talking to folks around the country and urging them to take action instead of just writing a blog post full of complaints. Woo Hoo! The revolution will be televised.
