The only relevant known fact about McCabe’s firing is that he is a key witness against Trump. Trump has launched a preemptive strike against the truth about his crimes. Trump also was able to be as petty and mean as possible at the same time.
As was pointed out in Slate magazine, Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe would be one of the top two or three key witnesses in any obstruction of justice case against President Donald Trump. On Friday, Trump’s Attorney General Jeff Sessions destroyed McCabe professionally in a way that could ruin his reputation for telling the truth.
These are the most important things to remember after Sessions fired McCabe for an undefined failure to be forthcoming during an investigation of his role in the bureau’s work on the Hillary Clinton email scandal. The report documenting McCabe’s alleged misconduct was not made public. Instead, Sessions released a statement with vague assertions of wrongdoing.
Former CIA director John Brennan blasted Trump for gloating about the firing of former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe, telling Trump that he will go down as “a disgraced demagogue in the dustbin of history.”
“When the full extent of your venality, moral turpitude, and political corruption becomes known, you will take your rightful place as a disgraced demagogue in the dustbin of history. You may scapegoat Andy McCabe, but you will not destroy America,” Brennan tweeted at Trump. “America will triumph over you.”
McCabe responded in a lengthy statement, decrying his firing as an attempt “to taint the FBI, law enforcement, and intelligence professionals more generally.”
Read McCabe’s full statement here:
I have been an FBI Special Agent for over 21 years. I spent half of that time investigating Russian Organized Crime as a street agent and Supervisor in New York City. I have spent the second half of my career focusing on national security issues and protecting this country from terrorism. I served in some of the most challenging, demanding investigative and leadership roles in the FBI. And I was privileged to serve as Deputy Director during a particularly tough time.
For the last year and a half, my family and I have been the targets of an unrelenting assault on our reputation and my service to this country. Articles too numerous to count have leveled every sort of false, defamatory and degrading allegation against us. The President’s tweets have amplified and exacerbated it all. He called for my firing. He called for me to be stripped of my pension after more than 20 years of service. And all along we have said nothing, never wanting to distract from the mission of the FBI by addressing the lies told and repeated about us
No more.
The investigation by the Justice Department’s Office of Inspector General (OIG) has to be understood in the context of the attacks on my credibility. The investigation flows from my attempt to explain the FBI’s involvement and my supervision of investigations involving Hillary Clinton. I was being portrayed in the media over and over as a political partisan, accused of closing down investigations under political pressure. The FBI was portrayed as caving under that pressure, and making decisions for political rather than law enforcement purposes. Nothing was further from the truth. In fact, this entire investigation stems from my efforts, fully authorized under FBI rules, to set the record straight on behalf of the Bureau, and to make clear that we were continuing an investigation that people in DOJ opposed.
The OIG investigation has focused on information I chose to share with a reporter through my public affairs officer and a legal counselor. As Deputy Director, I was one of only a few people who had the authority to do that. It was not a secret, it took place over several days, and others, including the Director, were aware of the interaction with the reporter. It was the type of exchange with the media that the Deputy Director oversees several times per week. In fact, it was the same type of work that I continued to do under Director Wray, at his request. The investigation subsequently focused on who I talked to, when I talked to them, and so forth. During these inquiries, I answered questions truthfully and as accurately as I could amidst the chaos that surrounded me. And when I thought my answers were misunderstood, I contacted investigators to correct them.
But looking at that in isolation completely misses the big picture. The big picture is a tale of what can happen when law enforcement is politicized, public servants are attacked, and people who are supposed to cherish and protect our institutions become instruments for damaging those institutions and people.
Here is the reality: I am being singled out and treated this way because of the role I played, the actions I took, and the events I witnessed in the aftermath of the firing of James Comey. The release of this report was accelerated only after my testimony to the House Intelligence Committee revealed that I would corroborate former Director Comey’s accounts of his discussions with the President. The OIG’s focus on me and this report became a part of an unprecedented effort by the Administration, driven by the President himself, to remove me from my position, destroy my reputation, and possibly strip me of a pension that I worked 21 years to earn. The accelerated release of the report, and the punitive actions taken in response, make sense only when viewed through this lens. Thursday’s comments from the White House are just the latest example of this.
This attack on my credibility is one part of a larger effort not just to slander me personally, but to taint the FBI, law enforcement, and intelligence professionals more generally. It is part of this Administration’s ongoing war on the FBI and the efforts of the Special Counsel investigation, which continue to this day. Their persistence in this campaign only highlights the importance of the Special Counsel’s work.
I have always prided myself on serving my country with distinction and integrity, and I always encouraged those around me to do the same. Just ask them. To have my career end in this way, and to be accused of lacking candor when at worst I was distracted in the midst of chaotic events, is incredibly disappointing and unfair. But it will not erase the important work I was privileged to be a part of, the results of which will in the end be revealed for the country to see.
I have unfailing faith in the men and women of the FBI and I am confident that their efforts to seek justice will not be deterred.

Typical of the petty, evil, vindictive Trump to fire this man just hours before his retirement to deny his pension. Monster trump must go. How in the hell can the (decent) American people put up with this POS!! Don’t know if I can stand 3 more years of this insanity. Don’t mean to sound gross, but my stomach ulcers(5+ and increasing) and my IBS which used to be in remission are now in overdrive! Thanks idiot trump supporters for voting in this evil scumbag because you thought he would stand up for your middle class values and your delusional religious persecution complex. You thought he would be the lesser of 2 evils but looks like you voted in Satan instead. Sickened beyond belief!
Unfortunately, many Trump voters support his childish gloating over this man possibly losing his pension if the likes on his Twitter account is any indication of how they feel. America is in deep trouble, and I’m afraid of what it may take to wake the sleeping (or apathetic) majority up. Trump is worse than any foreign terrorist.
I know what you mean. I saw some of the gloating on his feed a few minutes ago and it was just evil in every sense of the word.
It’s not the immigrants that need to go. America needs to be cleansed of all these evil, native-born, nazi pricks who are bringing this country down and making us the laughing stock of the rest of the civilized world.
Stacey,
I honestly don’t know who is worse. The growing US Nazis movement or the delusional Christians who think their imaginary deity ordained Trump to be President. I can only imagine what these “fools for Christ” would have been like 500 years ago before the advent of religious freedom where one could challenge religious dogma without physical harm. I heard a Christian said Jesus was coming back soon because Trump made Jerusalem the capital of Israel. Sheesh! Most folks are rightly concerned about Islamic terrorists getting their hand on nuclear weapons, but we better keep our eyes on the Armageddon folks still waiting 2,000 years later for Jesus despite his failure to return soon as promised.
These delusional evangelicals are like a computer. They have programmed in a dangerous end-times, video-style game that they think is real with the end game being total destruction of the planet. Since Jesus is supposedly coming back in a spaceship to rescue them, they feel no responsibility about caring for the planet or trying to work together to make this a peaceful world. All because they have totally misunderstood passages in the bible and made them into something they are not. I am in therapy right now with a great therapist who helps treat folks coming out of toxic religions. He told me that a great percentage of religions today discourage critical thinking skills (definitely an understatement). That is why there are so many otherwise well-educated people in other areas of life who park their brains at the door once they enter a church.
And I don’t know what their love affair with Israel is all about unless they see Israel as a pawn in their end-times delusional scenario. They don’t really give a wit about the Jews. As a matter-or-fact, I’ve heard a lot of jews feel offended about the evangelicals stance.
Evangelical support for Israel is definitely tied to their belief in the Second Coming of Christ. Unfortunately, much of U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East appears to be based loosely on a foolish belief in failed Bible prophecies. And given Christianity shameful history of antisemitism, I agree many Evangelicals probably don’t give a hoot for Jews other than seeing them as a fulfillment of Biblical prophecy.
I imagine they would do the same thing today if all laws and physical restraints concerning religious freedom were removed. You can bet they would be having a bloodbath party. I’m ashamed to admit this and please don’t hold this against me, but my great grandfather was a high ranking member of the KKK here in Louisiana and he would have been thrilled. Unfortunately, this mentality still exists and I have been fighting against it every step of the way. I will never hesitate to speak up against bigotry when I see it and it has made me some enemies. Sometimes I wished I lived in a more liberal state. At least I would have more people to talk to without fear of retribution from the good ‘ole boys club! It is a very real fear!
Christianity is fragmented into 40,000 different denominations, sects and cults all claiming to be based on the “Word of Da Lawd.” Of course, the so-called original autographs of the books of the Bible have been lost to history so no one knows what the so-called original documents said. Apologists go to great length to obscure the fact that we really don’t know what was written in the original Gospels. So no one can’t accurately claim what one has now in the Bible is a true reflection of anything. I was on my way to Gordon-Cornwell Seminary when I learned about the Bible shady’s history. So grateful my ship got turned around before I wasted years of my life speculating what some deity may have said. Cheers.
Stacey, I have a white great ancestor who was in the KKK in North Carolina. Many folks don’t know the KKK identities as a Christian organization. So I laugh when Christians like this blog’s resident troll writes we don’t like the “Truth.” LOL.
Both are bad in their own way and have a lot more in common with each other than they are aware of.
correction: I meant… Trump’s childish….
Cheers to you too Joelyn! My responses to your posts don’t seem to be occurring in chronological order. Hope you can make out which of my responses are to the correct posts. It’s nice to have someone decent and civil to talk to for a change!
Hey Stacey. You are right about the comments order and one can’t make edits after posting. O well. It is nice to have a civil conversation online. It’s too bad some folks can’t remain civil when one disagrees with another person’s comments. That’s why I’m all for moderating blog comments. This way the blog doesn’t become overrun with folks going back and forth with insults. If you don’t feed a troll, they can only argue with themselves. As an atheist, I know my comments inflame certain people and they always have to defend their gods because after all, imaginary gods can’t defend themselves. LOL!
I’m so glad I have the freedom to reject religious dogma and trolls can’t do anything about it but complain. I have good friends from all walks of life and we manage to get along which is something that wasn’t possible even a few generations ago in these United States. Here’s to the human race making more progress toward becoming a more just and civil world. Woo Hoo!
No child … what you have is the freedom to be as stupid as you chose to be thinking you’re somehow more clever and informed when in reality you’re more entrenched with in the depths of lie & myth than anyone of any religion no matter how far fetched it might be
Problem is .. you’re too stupid and arrogant to realize it .
As far as trolls are concerned The only troll I’ve seen lately other than gdd … is you . And a lying two faced logically inconsistent intellectually vapid Cut & Paste troll at that
Progress ? Suffice it to say you’re a prime example of the mental regression of this nation as well as part and parcel of the Collective Stupidity of America .. you’re being as stupid if not more than those you try so hard to criticize in order to give meaning to your otherwise meaningless and vapid existence
But hey little sister … y’all just keep up with your divisive ways … your deluded identity politics .. your myths …. lies and Cut & Paste bs … and we’ll see just how well that works out for you … child !
All bets are … not so well
Joelyn, my KKK great grandfather was also a well-respected deacon in the most well-known SBC here in town. Go figure! My mother and my aunts used to dread going to spend the night with them because my great grandfather and all his KKK buddies used to sit on the front porch and brag about killing people while the kids played nearby in the front yard having to listen to it. Mama said papaw was creepy and gave her nightmares. My own grandfather used to get my great grandfather’s white robe and hood out of his secret closet and play dress-up as a child. He also inherited his dad’s rabid racist attitudes though toned down a notch if you can imagine that. It’s sad to know that although they are not killing and getting away with it like they used to, the attitude still exists in spirit. It really hurts my heart to know what all happened in the past and that some people still thinl that way now. These were people with families and mama’s and daddies who loved their children just like the white folks loved theirs and it is the same with people of all nationalities that trump and his groupies love to dehumanize. Sorry about the rambling! I’m on a roll tonight about the sickness and horror going on in this country and I need to be more positive.
Girlfriends, do volunteer work if you can. There is always the need for some helping hand. Takes one’s mind off of self and feels good while doing good. Cheers.
Would you two get a room and keep your inane , intellectually vapid private conversations …. private !
Suffice it to say you’re both contributing to the intellectual demise of this website equally if not greater than GB did
A friendly reminder folks:
This coming weekend is the March for Our Lives rally in Washington, DC. Let’s make this the biggest civil rights march DC has seen in a long time.
Check out Wiki (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/March_for_Our_Lives) or Facebook for host marches in your city if you can’t make the trip to DC.
Let us be the change we want to see in our country. Let’s be the rock that changes the direction of the river for good for a young person in our lives. Great organizations will be there so be sure to get plenty of information. I’m looking forward to going and meeting like-minded people. Woo Hoo! Power to the People! Cheers.
Frank, will you be there?
TJ, You and Gory have more in common with each other than you realize. You’re both the epitome of trolldom. Since he is no longer posting on Frank’s blogs, you can’t attack him anymore so you go after everybody else just to keep yourself in the spotlight. Maybe you need to get back in touch with Gory, who likes to post on Frank’s facebook BTW, and you two lock yourself in a hotel room and have at it. So shut the h@#l up ’cause no decent person on this blog cares what you have to say, especially when you attack people who are being civil and have done nothing wrong. Please get therapy and meds for your anger issues. Nothing wrong with admitting you need help, that is if you have the personal insight to do so which most narcissists don’t unfortunately.
Stacey, please ignore the troll. He wants to get a reaction. Don’t respond to his comments unless you want to engage in a back and forth insult contest. This person sounds emotionally disturbed so attempting to reason with this person is useless. This troll is just seeking an opportunity to response and attack.
Just an opinion of course…
Welcome to the real world as to how the Government really works….
Our founders were very rich men as a rule and felt that public service should be rendered after making a fortune based on the land and roads and labor that produced that fortune as now we have Ayn Rand and how Atlas shrugged at holding up his world…..
Our Doc Martin had a lot of very relevant info on our dear Ayn Rand….
peace the most relevant companion IMO…
LOL…
N
Yeah I do have a lot of information on Ayn Rand … as well as
evangelicals ( the problem is not that their theology is flawed but rather that they no longer have a theology )
politics ( the only thing worse than bad government is no government )
mid term elections ( W.Penn shows what Americans really want is moderate voices ) etc
But with this site constantly devolving from trolldom ( gdd GB&Co etc ) to identity politics ( see above ) to blatant conspiracy theory bs … to Franks over emotive rants … whats the sense of bringing in intelligent conversation when that’s obviously not what the majority here want
Case in point .. John Norris’s posting the link to that brilliant Michael Gerson article in the Atlantic with my fully endorsing it the other day … with no one here … including you I’ll wager … reading the damn thing !
Fact is Nine .. have you so much as even looked at a book recommend I’ve offered … never mind read one ?
So whats the use ? Better yet .. whats the point ? If all everyone here wants to believe in is myth ,conspiracy , bs , alt facts , fake news , identity politics etc with their heads firmly planted in the sand .. why should I take the time and effort to educate … when in reality all everyone wants to do .. is to remain ignorant /stupid while confirming their already held beliefs regardless of how ludicrous and false they may be ?
So I say …. have at it folks … but when the ___ hits the fan blindsiding y’all like never before … don’t say no one tried to educate and/or warn you in advance

PPSS ; In closing … try reading a book …. a decent intelligent book mind you .. just once … you’d be amazed the difference it might make … even with the likes of you
To put it quite bluntly …. ‘Everybody already knows that ‘
So why are you continually posting unreliable ( and many times corrupted ) links to information readily available from reliable , safe and more importantly … Accurate resources ?
With the better question being … why are my comments in regards to the above … suddenly being deleted ? Marie Abadie perhaps ?
PS; A cursory look thru the NYC directory shows at least 125 joelyn’s … so pray tell which one is you ?
TJ… If I only could delete your comments… I would have deleted all of them. As in each and every single one of them. So please STOP crying foul and playing the victim because you are anything but. If anything you’re just a butt-hurt angry troll who is not getting enough attention. Something we can all see through…
So wish I had seen this before the March… Being that I live in NYC, I would have loved to met and marched with you. Still can’t get over that millions all over the country turned out. The tides are turning!
It was a glorious day in American politics. I was glad that ordinary young people of all races and backgrounds were allowed to speak. Although there were many celebrities at the various marches, they stayed in the background. Let’s vote with our money and hands to make a difference in this country. Woo Hoo!
THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE NOT (NEVER) ENOUGH! March for Our Lives.
On February 14, a 19-year-old boy opened fire on Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Wielding an AR-15 rifle, he slaughtered 17 students and faculty members before dismissal, making this the deadliest school shooting in the United States since Sandy Hook. His gun was an early make of the same model of weaponry that killed 50, and injured another 53 in 2016’s Pulse nightclub massacre. Both weapons were purchased legally.
The Parkland, Florida survivors, most of whom are too young to see an R-rated film in a theater unaccompanied, to vote, or to buy a lottery ticket, are old enough to create a mass movement. The March for Our Lives will kick off March 24 in Washington, DC, where thousands are expected to take to the streets and demand stricter gun control legislation. Please read article for more info on where to gather (source: thrillist.com).
Okay, I had enough fun upsetting the resident Troll. LOL! All the best to folks of goodwill. Give me a shout-out on Saturday. Joelyn.
Thanks for the info Joelyn! Your posts are always so positive. Cheers.
Joelyn, you are right. I should not have fed the troll. I had a weak moment. I tend to have a peacemaker type personality, though I do get riled up about trump and his bigotry and that of his supporters. I just get enraged sometimes when nasty, disturbed individuals insert themselves in blogs and try to infect them with their hate. Will ignore from now on!
Much to my husband’s amazement, I’ve learned to curse like a proverbial truck driver since trump’s horrifying election- but even I don’t have the appropriate scatological curse words in my vocabulary to display my utter disgust for this evil, vile petty president’s actions, and the enablers surrounding him.
What has our nation become?
