Thanks, Frank. I always appreciate your comments about the silly things evangelicals like Perkins said. One can certainly criticize many of President Obama’s public policies, but calling him a bully is not the adjective I would use to describe that gentleman. Of course, Trump is the real bully in both words and deeds. Keep up the good fight. Cheers.
Suffice it to say Perkin’s is suffering from a severe case of PDVS ( post decision validation syndrome ) not to mention a whole host of other mental disorders … with delusion pretty much topping the list
Thank you Frank. You are a voice in the wilderness.
My dearest Frank Shaeffer,
The frog will jump out of that boiling pan if given a reason to do so as I see things.
Lets take a look at me….
A man who served his dear Federal Family for over thirty years plus who retired with a pension and a healthy Thrift Savings account and health insurance for me and my family and for my kids to age 26.
What is at stake here if we let the Paul Ryan’s of this world to dictate policy? Is there a shortage of money? I would say we have a group of Corporations that simply do not want to share their wealth with the workers that created that wealth in the first place and so what to do?
A clear and concise examination of policy for the middle class item by item to show the clear differences between the Republican and Democratic parties at this particular time in history. History is on our side as when the Democratic base is properly motivated they will vote in droves for the correct policies that will improve their lives as this would be right up Frank’s alley as I see things to motivate the troops in the trenches as it were.
The idea that I get from Frank is that its near hopeless to defeat our dear domestic enemies of our dear republic as I see it in terms that are the most opposite of that as our enemy is weak at the local level as I must remind any Democratic operative as Tip O’Neil once quipped as all politics is local…
What do I see on the local level? Families starving on low wages and expensive or non available health care or dental care and exploding student loan debt for our kids and affordable housing and I could go on and on…
Politics is local and they are weak.
Before a pipe dream of change we must stop the hemorrhaging of our republic and simply register to vote and pull that lever for the Democratic party and if we do that we can save social security and Obama care and maybe stop a needless war or two and if we can do this maybe then we can elect some more creative progressive people to run our dear Federal Family.
Are you registered to vote ? Is your family and friends?
If you are a Republican the right thing to do is to vote for the Democrats as a protest as I plan to do.
There is a clear choice between right and wrong now in this time in American history….
Nine
… or to put it more succinctly Nine ..
The Democrats having devolved into the depths of NeoLiberalism economics wise .. as well as blatantly antinomianism disguised by a rhetoric of political correctness aren’t perfect … damn far from it in fact ..
But the fact is … they are a helluva lot better than the ONLY other alternative we’ve got …
PS; In case you’re not checking the previous page … the answer to your question ..
gdd by his/her own admission did not and does NOT vote … his/her consistent excuse being .. he/she refuses to vote for any candidate who does not live up to his/her tired and worn communist manifesto ideologies , fantasies and delusions
Woof ! 😎
Exactly right, Nine. Until there is a viable third party, in other words never, republicans must vote democrat in protest to these anti family policies. Hopefully, they will realize that trickle down economics is a fantasy and never helps the middle class.
Tara
Exactly right times a factor of ten .. vote for the lesser of two evils … or remain stuck with the worst
…. so please everyone .. do not allow identity politics – micro minority agendas – political correctness and untenable ideologies to stand in the way of the ONLY right decision available like happened in 2016
e.g.
1) Get off your coaches / out from behind your screens and VOTE
and
2) Vote D …. or suffer the imminent ( and potentially devastating ) consequences should the GOP remain in full control for another two years .
Sigh …. to put it as plainly as possible … in the Spirit of David’s OT Psalms … a simple prayer ( for those of us who still Believe )
May they ( the christofascist right ) be consumed by their own hypocrisy .
The Washington Post article that appear in Frank’s latest (as of now) tweets in right hand column.

PS should have clarified, article is about Evangelicals and Israel. And has some great comments by ex-evangelicals…
No worries John … its an excellent article ( I read it when it first hit WP’s website ) completely relevant to the overall conversation and well worth linking to
Here’s another article albeit somewhat off topic … yet frighteningly relevant worth reading ;
http://www.theamericanconservative.com/dreher/underestimating-american-collapse/
( read the Haque essay in its entirety with the link provided in the article )
Full discloser … as I’ve stated previously I’m no fan of Dreher .. his Benedictine Option ( which is in reality both theologically historically and philosophically untenable .. nor am I an advocate for the writings of TAC in general … but again as stated previously … when he/they get it right … damn … do they every get it right .
Here’s the Umair Haque essay referenced in the TAC article on the burgeoning collapse of America in its entirety ;
https://eand.co/why-were-underestimating-american-collapse-be04d9e55235
This essay left me thoroughly creeped out and on the verge of tears by its all too accurate portrayal of the decay of the US .. way beyond anything Frank has written to date ( and Frank’s done some pretty good stuff ) … and suffice it to say … as of today we ( the wife and I ) have renewed our passports … might I recommend everyone else do the same ….. sigh
Thanks. Reminds why I gave up my green card privileges and returned to Europe in 2003…
John
A quote from the Umair Haque essay ;
” So my last pathology is a predatory society. A predatory society doesn’t just mean oligarchs ripping people off financially. In a truer way, it means people nodding and smiling and going about their everyday business as their neighbours, friends, and colleagues die early deaths in shallow graves. The predator in American society isn’t just its super-rich — but an invisible and insatiable force: the normalization of what in the rest of the world would be seen as shameful, historic, generational moral failures, if not crimes, becoming mere mundane everyday affairs not to be too worried by or troubled about ”
Sigh …. what he’s pointing out with this particular paragraph is the very essence of the Gospel of Ayn Rand .
