Unfortunately after reading the complete transcription of Oprah’s speech … a woman for whom I have little if any respect for I might add ( 99% celebrity – 1% actual substance ) … about the only thing I felt was that distinct burning feeling in my gut that we as a nation have become absolutely overwhelmed and obsessed by the Micro .. as in .. micro minorities … micro issues .. micro ethics .. micro politics etc
… to the point where the Greater Good is no longer so much as a consideration never mind a viable agenda and goal ..
.. thereby negating any hope of a strong majority …
… along with the knowledge that we as a nation have become throughly addled and consumed by celebrity …
… as well as addicted to entertainment ( well beyond any opioid etc crisis and with much harsher consequences )
Making it clear why a Trump like character inevitable able to emerge victorious in one of what previously was the most educated country on the planet …
And the fact that the likes of a Frankie Schaeffer .. who by all rights should know better.. ( and you should Frankie ) …. choses to be a part of that addling and addiction as he seeks his additional 15 minutes of fame … vainly trying to promote it with inanity such as this …. post ….
…. leaves me with the very distinct feeling that either ;
A) There is no hope to be had for this country as yet another empire finds its eventual and eminent end …
.. or …
B) That the internet as a whole has become the 21st century version of the insane asylum run by the lunatics themselves … better left ignored by those of us with genuine intelligence ethics and discernment seeking the truth regardless of how much it may hurt
or ..
C) That as John Lukacs has pointed out so well in his book ” At the End of an Age ” … that we are truly ensconced into a transitional age … having left the industry age behind.. towards what new age no one knows … with this as all transitional ages being riddled with upheaval … the attempts of the barbarian to rise to the surface ,,, where words lose their meaning …. truth is put aside … and technology no longer serves to advance having become technology for technology’s sake alone …
.. leaving us in a state of temporary nihilism until this transitional age finally passes
And though my head says A & B …. my heart … hoping against all hope …goes with C .
In closing when it comes to Frankie’s latest forays into the wide and wacky world of the public intellectual .. a quote from philosopher … Jean Bethke Elshtain ;
” The problem with becoming a public intellectual is that over time you grow more and more public but less and less intellectual ”
The very abyss Francis fell down … and the one Frankie is currently standing on the very brink of … if … he hasn’t fallen down it already .
So now the celebrity addled , entertainment addicted minions want to trade one reality TV star ( Trump ) in for another as they call for Oprah’s candidacy in 2020 ? All over one single reasonably ok at best scripted speech … that was in fact a scripted from beginning to end ? ( WP NYTimes etc )
Insanity at its absolute finest… all while ignoring/putting aside the ever present danger of a Trump lead GOP .
Sigh … I’m beginning to think calling what we’ve become the Collective Stupidity of America .. is in fact being far too kind .. giving a helluva lot more credit to the American people on both sides of the aisle than either side rightfully deserves .

Exactly right. Drumph is a German. His granddaddy made a fortune in the brothel trade to my knowledge. They will attempt to have a field day with the big black queen O but it will backfire. Have you read The Help or seen the film? A lot of these backwards ass southerners’ grandparents were raised by strong black women. Hillary was just too tainted by everything to capture hearts and minds but O is another story. This is very exciting. Perhaps my beloved America’s bottom is the orange Umpah Loompah which will usher in some measure of sanity. Can you feature a succession of hip cool Obama > nut case > que strong black female business entrepreneur > Be assured that if it happens in politics it was planned. Yay team!!!! Mobilize the Goddess! The only insanity she’ll be spared is a comparison to Adolph Hitler. All I can say is it’s good to be alive and witnessing these developments.

I amended a note about Clinton on the previous post Margarita. I hope you see it. No harm meant. I have to say that at least the United States is not as abusive to the gay community as Russia is. My dear uncle is very openly gay. He and his life long partner are an inspiration to me. Russia needs to get a clue about those issues. They are behind the times. I’m hoping this dark hour of the jackell Trump will usher in new and expanded freedoms of conscious thought for the U.S.

I thought this was an exercise in self-absorption, self-obsession and unending self-pity. You’d think this crowd of smug millionaires [Winfrey is a billionaire] was a Narcissists Club. And the appeal to wear black shows that the tone/character was set days or even weeks ahead.
No one questioned the overnight destruction of careers by unproven/anonymous allegation in this celebration of identity politics. Perhaps not one of them has heard/read about the McCarthy era. As actress Ashley Judd posted online, ‘only 1 in 10 senior leaders are women.’ Methinks this ‘struggle’ may concern celebrity and big money.
There was nothing about the deportation of 200,000 Salvadorans, supporting Puerto Ricans still devastated by Maria, the opioid crisis, deteriorating social conditions, US militarism/aggression, danger of US initiated World War or world misery in general. The working class masses struggling day to day will see through this petty bourgeoisie façade.
