Can anyone have a reasonable discussion with white Evangelicals who voted for Trump and who offer no-matter-what-or-who-they-kill unwavering support for the state of Israel?
The answer is no.
For those who like me grew up in pro-Zionist versions of Christianity — “Oh my dear isn’t it wonderful the Jews are returning to Israel! Another proof of the truth of the Bible and the approach of the Rapture!” as my mother used to say — we begin with a knee-jerk bias.
I remember my parents rejoicing over the Israeli victory in the 1967 war as if it were an American victory. It was a clear case of GOOD triumphing over EVIL. We KNEW which side God was on. It was an updated new exciting Bible story taking place in OUR TIME!
“Israel is God’s chosen nation,” as Mom said, and “Why do you think Hitler wanted to kill Jews?” Because “Without the Jews God’s plan fails!” and even, “That’s why there was a holocaust: To force Jews home so Jesus can come back!”
The story of Israel is the story of America. No Evangelical says this but they know they can’t condemn the behavior of Israel without condemning our own. I’ve never met a pro-Israel Evangelical who has spent time listening to the voices of Palestinians. That includes Palestinian Christians. American Evangelicals don’t even want to hear of such people. They’re Arabs and brown! What’s Christian about that?!
Good white people take a land that already has people living there. Sound familiar? Call this the Trump/Roy Moore Syndrome! Trump can’t complain too loudly about Moore’s assaulting teens since the world is full of women who say the same of Trump. And Israel is part of the colonial club of white expansion we Americans now lead.
The Balfour Declaration “giving” Jews the land was a ploy by the British against the Turks in WWI. The British didn’t care about those damned Arabs (“Wogs”) or the Jews. They were just using everyone.
Christian Zionists will be quick to say anyone is anti-Semitic for expressing even the slightest critique of modern Israel. But noting that — for instance — Colonial powers were serving their own ends helping settlers in the early 20th C., or that illegal Israeli settlements today … are indeed illegal, is no more “anti-Israeli” let alone “anti-Semitic” than noting that slavery was evil or that you believe Trump is a serial woman abuser and criminal predator, or criticizing American drone warfare… is “anti-American.”
Thus, calling on Israel to repent of evil is not anti-Semitic– it’s actually the epitome of the “biblical” and Jewish scriptures, in the same way that calling on Republican evangelicals to repent of supporting the thug Trump is biblical. Blind support is never biblical but always geared to power not truth. But most white evangelicals are Christian Zionists who never critique Israel … with a twist I’ll address in a moment.
For instance the white evangelical Trumped leadership helped to push Trump to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, Palestinians or international law be dammed. “What President Trump is doing is one of the most courageous political things that’s been done in Washington in a long time,” leading “Christian” Zionist John Hagee said.
Hagee is the senior pastor of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas, and said this to Pat Robertson’s CBN News in reaction to Trump recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
“President Trump, when I spoke to him in the White House about this several weeks ago, he said this very emphatically. He said, ‘Other presidents have failed you, but I will not disappoint the Christian community in this issue. I will stand with Israel, and we will at some point in time, move the embassy,'” Hagee added. “… I told him that God measures everything in modules of 50 years,” Hagee explained. “And I said, this is a principle that’s carried out in Leviticus, the 25th chapter!”
“I said, ‘If you look at 1917, it was a Jubilee Year, and the Balfour Amendment came, and then in 50 years, it was 1967, and Jerusalem was reconnected to Israel.'”
“World history can be summed up in one sentence. The nations that blessed Israel were blessed of God, and the nations that cursed Israel were cursed of God,” Hagee said.
Just as deep-pocketed donors to the Republican party had a huge impact on the hastily-written tax reform bill that’s now being reconciled in Congress, they have put direct pressure on the US president to change US policy in Israel. So to do evangelical white voters line up with the big money on this issue.
For Trump, the status of Jerusalem was always less a diplomatic dilemma than a political imperative to keep Evangelicals and Zionist cranks with money happy.
Casino magnate Sheldon Adelson and his wife Miriam Ochsorn, the largest individual Republican donors in 2016, who coughed up $83 million lead the extremist Zionist pack. Adelson failed to back Trump initially in the Republican race, but made an abrupt about-face during the primary, earning the couple a seat at Trump’s inauguration after Trump promised he’d let Adelson dictate conditions on Middle East “policy.” Trump made the same promise to evangelical leaders.
Moving the US embassy to Jerusalem has long been one of the Adelson’s goals—one that is particularly important for Ochsorn, who was born in British-ruled Palestine. These goals converge – for very different reasons (the “twist” I spoke of) – with Trump’s bedrock white evangelical shills.
The Adelsons had a private dinner at the White House on October 2, where they pushed Trump on relocating the embassy, the New York Times reported.
Faced with disappointing evangelical and pro-Israel fanatics (who always put Israel’s interests ahead of America’s) like Adelson, or alarming allies and those brown hated, mistrusted Arab leaders- while jeopardizing his own “peace initiative” that is nothing more than giving Jared a job in Trump’s nepotistic regime, Trump sided with his key supporters… and their money.
Enter the “Values” voters led by Tony Perkins and his ilk. “In the meetings I was in [with Trump], it was clearly communicated that evangelicals and Bible-believing Christians see a special relationship with Israel,” said Tony Perkins, the president of the Family Research Council, king of the “Family Values” lobby.
“Of all the possible theological dog-whistles to his evangelical base, this is the biggest. Trump is reminding them that he is carrying out God’s will to these Last Days,” said Tony Perkins approvingly.
OKAY, so now for the “twist.”
Evangelicals have say that their support for Trump is based on the belief that God can use the unlikeliest of men to enact His will. But how did conservative American Christians become invested in such a fine point of Middle East policy as whether the U.S. Embassy is in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem? The two issues are tied together. A big reason—other than abortion—evangelicals support Trump blindly is that he’s doing the “right thing” about Israel.
For instance recognizing Jerusalem, for Trump’s evangelical supporters is a key step in the progression of events leading to the second coming of Jesus. Call this “Left Behind” diplomacy. The series was co-authored by a culture warrior Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins, an old friend of mine from my evangelical-leader days some 30 – 40 years ago.
Here’s where it gets very twisted: Don’t forget what Zionist evangelicals believe about Jews’ eventual fate. They say they love Israel — as a way station to Jesus’ return — but most of the Jews who live there will be killed by the returning Jesus and… burn in hell. So Jesus needs them now because he, like God, is a slave to fulfilling his prophecy – but then he can discard these useful Jews. (Interesting question for your evangelical friends to mess with their heads: “Is God in charge or are his prophecies in charge- sort of like the Kings of Persia who couldn’t change their own laws once enacted?” (See the book of Ester!)
When Jesus comes back (according to evangelical biblical theology) only 144,000 Jews will be saved. The rest are to be killed for rejecting the Messiah.
Put it this way whatever else Sheldon Adelson and his wife Miriam Ochsorn are figuring on doing after they help set the stage for Jesus’ return it probably isn’t becoming Christian evangelists. But according to evangelical theology that’s what they have to do, or die and burn with the rest of those “un-saved” Jews.
“Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel” (Revelation 7:4), nothing in the passage leads to interpreting the 144,000 as anything but a literal number of Jews—12,000 taken from every tribe of the “sons of Israel.”
These Jews are “sealed,” which means they’ve got the special protection of God from all of the divine judgments and from the Antichrist in order to perform their mission during the tribulation period (see Revelation 6:17, in which people will wonder who can stand from the “wrath to come”).
The tribulation period is a future seven-year period of time all good evangelicals are longing for in which God will enact divine judgment against Jews (like Sheldon Adelson and his wife Miriam Ochsorn), Muslims, gays, liberals, women who had abortions, Hillary Clinton, and others who reject Him and/or the Republican Party, and will complete His “plan of salvation” for the nation of Israel- in other words liquidate it.
All of this is according to God’s revelation to the prophet Daniel (Daniel 9:24–27). The 144,000 Jews are a sort of “first fruits” (Revelation 14:4) of a redeemed Israel which has been previously prophesied (Zechariah 12:10; Romans 11:25–27), and their mission seems to be to evangelize the post-rapture world and proclaim the gospel during the tribulation period. In other words Jesus will kill all Jews who don’t join a last improved Jews-For-Jesus.
As a result of these good saved Jews-For-Jesus ministry, millions—“a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language” (Revelation 7:9)—will come to faith in Christ…
…Just what Sheldon Adelson and his wife Miriam Ochsorn’s money is buying for them and other members of AIPAC, according to their evangelical Zionist allies.
The final evangelical “solution” for Jews like Sheldon Adelson and his wife Miriam Ochsorn, is strikingly similar to Hitler’s.
Or as born-again-alleged pedophile and huge fan of Israel, Roy Moore, put it, as he campaigned for the Senate in one of his many attacks on billionaire liberal George Soros, who is Jewish and a regular target of far-right selectively anti-Semite conservatives: “No matter how much money he’s got, he’s still going to the same place that all people who don’t recognize God and morality and accept his salvation [from Jesus] are going. And that’s not a good place!”

Frank mocks God and what God does. OK. Lots of people do. Frank has his own theology, morality, and ideas about what the future will be. None of which are based on the Bible. Fine. Let’s see how that works out for him.
Oh yes Brys**t .. and of course you being nothing more than a child …. and a troll .. know so much about Frank … never mind the God of the Bible you’ve never read and do not believe in …. ensconced as you are within the depths of a polytheistic paganism pretending to be christian as you are .
So lets see how your ” Small Metal gods ” work out for you Brys**t .
By that way … Sarah Palin .. seriously ? Is that the depths to that which pretends to be christianity has plunged head first into ?
No wonder the physical manifestation of the church in America is emptying its pews left and right as it epitomizes the very essence of Dante’s 9th circle of hell . e.g. Betrayal .. of God ..the Bible .. any remaining semblance of the Truth .. and the country to boot
Dear TJ Martin
Merging Gary Bryson’s name with a byword for bovine excrescence is no revolution in intellectual history. Moreover the repeated comments about Gary Bryson’s parentage [December 9, 6:06 pm] in Frank Schaeffer’s December 8 ‘Open Letter’ post contribute nothing helpful and have no place in any principled discussion.
You use others as a whipping posts and censor them for ‘trollish’ behavior [December 10, 2:44 pm, and 4:47 pm; ‘Jerusalem, a 19th c. Cult’]. Perhaps they would better function as a mirror in which to behold and reflect upon your own behavioral misconduct.
The 4:47 assertion that Gary Bryson is ‘nothing more than a… troll’ diminishes his humanity. It refuses to acknowledge him as what we all are – God’s image. The half brother of our Lord touches this matter saying that
‘But no one can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil and full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God; from the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be this way’ [Ja 3:8-10].
Using rhetorical questions fresh and bitter waters, and olives and figs, James points to the problem of the heart [v. 11f.]. The leader of the church in Jerusalem contrasts wisdom and understanding with jealousy and bitterness. He contrasts good behavior performed with gentle courtesy and wisdom [Ja 3:13-14]. This is what it means to ‘put aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness,’ and so ‘in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls’ [Ja 1:21 cf. Ga 5:23; Ep 4:2; Co 2:12; Ti 3:2]. Are you an apologist, TJ? Then make your defense with gentleness and reverence [1Pe 3:15].
You possess sufficient native intelligence to give clear expression to serious thoughts apart from referencing bodily orifices and functions, or offering comments on parentage [as if that mattered in God’s eye]. Such rhetoric says nothing of those at whom they are directed; but they speak volumes about those who use it.
Your December 11, 2:59 pm depiction [December 10, Jerusalem a 19th c. Cult] of bodily injury together with thinly veiled council that Gary ‘consider’ it deals a wrong requiring action on your part.
In order that your obedience to Jesus Christ may be seen, I ask that you confess that these aspersions do not belong to God’s kingdom of peace and grace but are demonic as James says, and that they have no part in Christian dialogue. I ask that you confess to this forum and to Gary Bryson that you have wronged him. I ask that you seek Gary’s forgiveness for what you have done. So that you may evidence that spiritual solidarity with Christ, underlying James’ discussion, I ask that you refrain from repeating these things in the future.
Advent blessings!
gdd ;
Coming from a self righteous pseudo intellectual such as yourself steeped as you are deep within the delusions of liberation theology hell bent on creating division rather than any sense of unity having been part and parcel to the election of Donald Trump due to your delusions and misguided heresies posing as theology ..
.. somehow despite your excess verbosity … I find it rather hard taken out of context as they are to take criticism from you even the slightest bit seriously . Especially any criticisms relating to Obedience Christianity and Faith . Coming as it does from one unwilling to reveal his or her name
But in closing might I suggest that perhaps you’ve chosen the wrong calling ? What with your excess of words that amount to ” Much Ado About Nothing ” .. perhaps politics would suit your self righteous delusions a little better
And might I also suggest as recommend previously … any time you’d care to take the discussion public .. in front of your peers .. just let me know . Otherwise .. as my Brit Buddies would say … shut yer cake hole
Dear TJ Martin:
Please confess your wronging Gary Bryson to him and ask his forgiveness.
Advent blessings!
PS; When one such as Bryson choses to leave behind his or her humanity both by his / her words as well as the use of multiple sock puppets etc …then that individual has given up the right to be treated as a human ( Francis Schaeffer – Van Til – Chesterton etc )
FYI ; If you were one tenth as informed as you in your pretentiousness and self righteousness claim to be .. you’d know that I and many others have given the troll Gary Bryson many many opportunities to behave in a civil and humane manner … both towards myself as well as Ms Abadie etc . Each opportunity rejected in full by him
Does Gary Bryson make claim to substantial powers of erudition?
Do you?
If you are the more gifted party, it behooves you especially to take the high road.
Please confess to wronging Gary Bryson and ask his forgiveness.
Advent blessings!

This isn’t about who Gary Bryson is. This is about who TJ Martin is.
Confess your wrongdoing to Gary. Ask his forgiveness.

Dear gdd ;
re; ” Please confess your wronging Gary Bryson to him and ask his forgiveness ”
Obviously on top of bloviating and self righteousness reading is not within your skill set otherwise such a foolish reply would not of been forthcoming
Also … please note .. by posting such foolishness in the pursuit of God knows what other than fulfilling your need for self righteousness .. you have managed in a single stroke to Feed the Troll .. in addition to sewing division among those of us dealing with it and its antics
So to put it bluntly .. hopefully in a vernacular your obviously limits reading skills are capable of comprehending … Welcome to the real world gdd .. where political correctness has no place and your misguided Catholic Liberation theology carries no weight …. and trolls need to be dealt with as such .
In conclusion .. as stated many times previously … your pagan derived advent blessings are vapid and without meaning … as are your insincere platitudes and attitudes blessings in general .
Dear TJ Martin:
Please confess to wronging Gary Bryson and ask his forgiveness.

Dear TJ Martin:
What a lot of words to dispatch such simple instructions!
Confess.
Ask forgiveness.

Dear gdd .. or should I say … Father Brown ?
re; ” Does Gary Bryson make claim to substantial powers of erudition?Do you?If you are the more gifted party, it behooves you especially to take the high road. Please confess to wronging Gary Bryson and ask his forgiveness ”
Suffice it to say your bloviating , irrelevant verbosity and proof texted Bible references are completely devoid of meaning as are your inane questions , accusations , platitudes and attitudes .. so to reiterate .. shut your cake hole … this discussion unless you chose to take it face to face and public … is over
Capice ?
This ..
” Most white Alabama voters voted for Roy Moore, and almost all darkie Alabama voters voted for Jones. Without the negro vote, Jones would not have won. Once again, negroes have proven to be a liability rather than an asset ”
.. is the reality we are dealing with . So welcome to the real world … grow up .. and deal with it as an adult in the real world .
Either that or chose to ignore my comments .
gdd ;
1) The fallacy of your liberation theology ideologies explained in one two word statement ;
Original Sin
You’re not comprehending that identifies you as a heretic
2) I do not take religious council or advice from heretics … Protestant Catholic or otherwise
Therefore … NO !
Dear TJ Martin:
Confess to wronging Gary and ask his forgiveness.

“Is God in charge, or are his prophesies in charge?” Once again Frank reveals his ignorance of who God is. Frank thinks the God of the Bible makes prophesies without thinking things through. Without knowing the future. In other words, Frank thinks the God of the Bible makes mistakes and does not know what will happen in the future. More like a Greek god than the infinite God Frank’s dad talked about.
Frank’s ignorance of God and the Bible .
Thats a laugh Brys**t in light of your complete , blatant and total ignorance when it comes to the Bible or the God of Creation . Perhaps it might behove you to take the time to find out just who Frank Schaeffer is and what he knows before shoving that vile foot of yours down your ragged throat once again
Truly child .. you are either clueless .. volitionally stupid … or beyond delusional approaching schizophrenia .
Um I think that is the point. It’s your fantasy about what the fufillment of God’s prophecies looks like. God is God. You cannot know or predict the time or the manner of His fulfillment.
The Jews did not fight back in any organized fashion, and they had no country from which to do so, and were almost exterminated in Europe.
And this led directly to the establishment of Israel.
Frank doesn’t care, though. He is not concerned about the Holocaust or the fact that another one is being planned.
The difference THIS time is that the Jews fight back, now. And if they go down a SECOND time, it won’t be ALONE.
Get that through you Jew hating. lying, heads.
Isn’t it rather ironic how the sock puppet of the blatantly anti semite Brys**t comes out in favor of … well … not the Jewish faith as might appear .. but rather .. Zionism
I find it comical that anyone thinks God needs us, or can say that God thought these prophecies through before putting them in the Bible. God is the creator of mankind, not the other way around. Religion is mankind’s creation, and look at that mess. The born again, Bible-believing Christians have an answer for every situation. The fact that young people are fleeing evangelical churches in droves will no doubt be identified with the apostasy. Delusional people don’t need much encouragement to believe the absurd is reality. The Bible is a book of myth and literature, which is largely based on earlier myth and literature. That’s all it is.
Anne, If the Bible is a book of myth, how do you know that what you believe about God is true?
Brys**t .. so yer love interest ….. lost ! Oh well … I’m sure even in defeat ole Roy’ll stop by to service your little girl alter egos
How does it feel Brys**t .. to know that as the Evangelical / Fundamentalist community dives into a sea of stupidity … the American people and Biblical Christians .. are coming to their senses …. seeing the likes of you for what you are … bigoted racist mindless little neo fascist … sycophants
Martin, Are you saying that “Biblical Christians” voted for Jones? You’ll have a hard time proving that.
Bahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha !
Oh goodness … I’m about to bust a gut I’m laughing so damn hard !
But yeah Brys**t … Christians who READ the Bible … BELIEVE what it says … and don’t try to make the Bible say what THEY want it to say … voted against precious pedophile … recognizing one single controversial issue ( abortion ) should not decide the fate of the country and their state .
martin, You’re lying again. No Bible believer would ever vote for jones. Jones’ beliefs are immoral. And, there is no proof that Roy Moore ever did anything he has been accused of by the lying women who waited until just before the election to say something.
” You’re lying again. No Bible believer would ever vote for jones. Jones’ beliefs are immoral. And, there is no proof that Roy Moore ever did anything he has been accused of by the lying women who waited until just before the election to say something ”
No Brys**t .. once again y’alls full of s*** … and the fact is you wouldn’t know a Biblical Christian …or any other kind of christian … if one were to kick your white trash losing a** across the room and back again … which they might 😉
Fact is Brys**t .. like your demented pagan hedonistic pedophile Roy Moore … you’re just a sore loser .. too stupid to recognize when … you’re … WRONG … about everything that is
martin, You have yet to prove I’m wrong about anything.
” You have yet to prove I’m wrong about anything ”
Ahhh … correction Brys**t .. I and everyone else have proven you to be wrong … about everything . Fact is you prove yourself wrong with each and every word you bang out on your keyboard
The only reason you’ve yet to realize it is because you’re a child too arrogant , stupid , deluded and prideful to admit it .
Either that or you are a 52 year old suffering from early onset dementia .. or a 52 year old with a severe substance abuse problem
This specific passage … is just for you .. Brys**t ;
” They’re washing the streets
With the blood of your kind
Ah look over your shoulder
They are right behind ” ( RT )
Ah yes! The arrogance of mankind!!! To think that the creator of the Universe would concern itself solely on just one species on a tiny planet in a relatively small and rather insignificant galaxy among millions of centillions of other galaxies…
… even if he does ( and I do believe he does ) fact is … God does not need us to further His plans … fact is … that is 99% of the time the basis for all heresy and gnosticism as well as the likes of Francis Schaeffer falling off the rails … thinking we’re in charge and He needs our help
When Margarita talks about “the creator of the Universe”, she isn’t talking about the God of the Bible. She is a pantheist.
Buls**t .. Brys**t … quit deflecting .. you’re the pantheist in the room
And face facts child … you don’t even know what a pantheist is ..
FYI Brys**t .. be prepared … cause in the next couple of days I’ll be exposing exactly why todays evangelicals and fundamentalists have devolved into blatant pantheism … and yes Brys**t .. that does mean .. that which you pretend to be
martin, Do your best.
” Do your best ”
Fact is Brys**t .. at my absolute worst … driven into submission by an epic migraine … all but incapacitated by the pain … I can still kick your little white trash a** from one end of the page to the other with ease barely breaking a sweat . Online or in person ..
And this today from .. USA Today ?
“A president who’d all but call a senator a whore is unfit to clean toilets in Obama’s presidential library or to shine George W. Bush’s shoes.”
— USA Today Editorial Board
For the evangelical /fundamentalist community , Roy Moore , Trump and all their kind ;
” Oh the rain is falling (blow blow down)
And the wild wind roars (blow blow down)
It’ll shake your windows (blow blow down)
And rattle your doors (blow blow down)
Ah blow down this house of cards
Blow down this house of cards
They’re washing the streets (blow blow down)
With the blood of your kind (blow blow down)
Ah look over your shoulder (blow blow down)
They are right behind (blow blow down)
Oh blow down this house of cards
Blow down this house of cards
The birds are wheeling (blow blow down)
Up above your head (blow blow down)
Ah your days are numbered (blow blow down)
You’re as good as dead (blow blow down)
Ah blow down this house of cards
Blow down this house of cards
This very fine house (blow blow down)
Of great renown (blow blow down)
It’s cracked and shaking (blow blow down)
And a-tumbling down (blow blow down)
Ah blow down this house of cards
Blow down this house of cards

Most white Alabama voters voted for Roy Moore, and almost all darkie Alabama voters voted for Jones. Without the negro vote, Jones would not have won. Once again, negroes have proven to be a liability rather than an asset.
” Most white Alabama voters voted for Roy Moore, and almost all darkie Alabama voters voted for Jones. Without the negro vote, Jones would not have won. Once again, negroes have proven to be a liability rather than an asset ”
So ….. Brys**t … may we assume from your most recent bout of abject stupidity that in your racist little mind no African Americans are Biblical Christians ?
Very few are. As evidenced by their lives, including their voting.
” Very few are. As evidenced by their lives, including their voting ”
Why am I not surprised with your response . Prejudice and racism at its finest .. all in the name of delusional self righteousness , lies and hypocrisy .
Yeah .. you’re a mighty fine example of what a Biblical Christian should be .
Dear Gary Bryson:
Both candidates were utterly reactionary and neither addressed Alabama’s pressing social issues.
September, the National School for Tropical Medicine studied poverty released a report describing social conditions in Butler County. not seen in a first world state. Lowndes County, Attorney General Jess Sessions’ home, suffers from 19th century diseases largely eradicated by social programs between the 50s and 80s.
When Moore ignores that and waves a Bible, that is not ‘pro-life.’ When Jones fixates on allegations of misconduct decades past, that is not principled opposition.
There is another class of voters who are going to factor increasingly into the US political equation.
Last month, NBC News and the U of Chicago conducted a survey of young adults [18-34], the ‘Millennials.’ 71% confessed that a third, major party is needed. And I couldn’t blame them.
Where is the rationale in clinging to parties and to a system that has abandoned the people?
Advent blessings!
Rationalizing with a troll . And you’re an educated individual ?
Suffice it to say doing so is an exercise in abject futility .. displaying your inability to deal with the real world and the characters within it
And what use did Mr. Jones’ campaign make of the National School on Tropical Diseases [Baylor] report? Given that it was released in September, there was obviously time in which to address conditions in Lowndes and Butler Counties.
What did they have to say?
Then there was Alabama’s infant mortality rate. What was said about that?
Endless attention was given to allegations made against Moore. How much discussion did Jones’ campaign give to such ultra-right views such as his declaration that Muslims should be barred from Congress and other elected offices? How much discussion did he give to Moore’s support for sending the Army to attack immigrants on the border? What of his support for criminalizing homosexuality? What about to his advocacy for elevating the Bible above the Constitution [i.e., establishing a theocracy]? Truth is, I was surprised that in the final week of the campaign, even the rosy picture of slave life in the South drew relatively little fire, even if it did give African-Americans across the state motive to go and vote.
Mr. Jones can declare that ‘health care is a right,’ etc. But what policy recommendations follow that? He can say that no one should have to sell their house because a family member is sick. True! What recognition does he give to the health care crisis? Does he point out that whereas US health care costs double or more in other advanced nations, the US ranks last among them in conditions of health? Does he call for ending ‘for profit’ medicine and privately owned health care corporations? Does he advocate putting the annual $200 billion profit toward funding health care for all? Or put that profit toward medical research, and the practice of preventative medicine, or training new doctors? Or what about this:
Whereas health care is a right, and whereas the Jones campaign acknowledges the potentially ruinous cost of illness, where has Mr. Jones called for the abolition of personal debt accumulated through massive health care expenses?
If you’re correct, you’ll have no problem documenting Mr. Jones’ campaign on these matters.
If I’m correct and Mr. Jones is a corporate Democrat, you’ll come up with scant attestation.
Voters are realizing that election platforms are for election purposes. They are refusing to allow their ballot to be turned against their conscience. Ever more conclude that voting is an idiot’s errand. They elect to vote against a system they believe sincerely to be increasingly alien, criminal, and having no attachment to common life..
More and more, TJ, your posts amount to slurs and dismissive remarks. The practice of simple courtesy and taking time to assemble more reflective posts will in lead participants to decide for themselves the meaning of the word, ‘troll.’
Lastly, you own Mr. Bryson a confession of wrongdoing. Do it. Ask his forgiveness.
Advent blessings!
Healthcare is a right. Really? And this means what? Does it mean there must be a physician within a 30 minute drive of everyone? Does it mean that someone else is obligated to pay for my healthcare,? Does it mean that any medicines I may need should be free? Does it mean that everyone must live within an hour of a hospital? What obligations does it place on you if I have a “right” to healthcare? And is that fair?
Dear Gary Bryson:
Healthcare is a right. Really? And this means what?
Precisely!
TJ cited me [Dec 13, 10:41 pm] saying:
“Both candidates were utterly reactionary and neither addressed Alabama’s pressing social issues…”
TJ flagged me for never taking time to review Doug Jones’ addresses or platform. So obviously, that was the place to go. And I did. It was Jones’ campaign website that claim healthcare as a social right.
But as you asked, ‘what does that mean.’
I composed questions to put to Jones’ platform based on the condition of Alabama public health. I did so to show that his website explains nothing what this ‘right to healthcare’ means, how it would work, who would finance it, etc.
I also invited TJ to demonstrate my error by citing the many places where Jones fought a principled campaign. Given how adamant he was that I’m in the dark, I have to presume that I’m in for a real barrage of references to Jones’ very forward looking campaign. But I’m not holding my breath.
Mr. Martin was fine with me when I was critiquing the GOP/Trump admin. But the instant he saw that yes, I really DO hold to Marxian analysis of our political economy, all that mysteriously changed.
Advent blessings!
I have come to hate both Democrats and Republicans. And for good reasons.
” I have come to hate both Democrats and Republicans. And for good reasons ”
Then by all means Brys**t .. leave the country ! Cause likes it or not … thats what ya’s stuck with …
Dear TJ Martin:
With 71% of Millennials desiring another major party, that may change. Why should they consent to be retained as political hostages to a system which works only for the ruling class?
And remember — confess your wrongdoing to Gary Bryson. Ask his forgiveness.
Advent blessings!
… and hey … trust me … we can definitely do without your kind .
Dear Gary Bryson:
Coming from opposite positions on the political spectrum, we are on this point entirely agreed.

” Both candidates were utterly reactionary and neither addressed Alabama’s pressing social issues”
Obviously you never took the time to read what issues Doug Jone addressed or made part of his platform . Ahhh .. Such is the life of a pseudo intellectual ensconced within the fertilizer of his/her pretense of a politically correct ivy tower
e.g. Welcome to the big leagues … sparky
… and actually .. most white voters did not . Most evangelical fundamentalist white voters .. yes … but white voters in general ?
Suffice it to say in light of the potential economic impact electing Roy ( I wanna be a cowboy ) Moore would of had most white voters had the sense to vote the other way
To all the women who voted for Jones: abortion will improve your life dramatically.
Ahhh … Brys**t .. abortion is a CHOICE here in the good ole US of A .. not a mandate .. therefore it being legal makes no difference to a woman choosing NOT to have an abortion … with the sin falling solely on those who do .
Biblical Culpability and Sin 101
Bryson, your outright racist comments about “darkies” are not Christian in the slightest.
I no longer support either you OR Martin.
You are both a smear on Frank’s blog.
I was being nice. There are other words I would have preferred to use.
You are a hater, Gary.
But with that last remark I think you are actually a troll FOR Frank, to smear the Christians.
… aint that cute ! Now Brys**t’s sock puppets are pretending to argue with him …. again
Sigh .. desperation truly does breed contempt
Courtney, Yes, I do hate some things. And some people. And Frank is one of them.
Ain that even cuter .. now Gary Bryson is talking back to his sock puppets …. using the same IP .. same rhetoric and speech .. etc
Seriously Brys**t .. your deranged little child mind is verging on paranoid schizophrenic behavior in dire need of professional assistance
… aint that cute ! Now Brys**t’s sock puppets are pretending to argue with him .
Damn we’re getting a helluva … smoke & mirrors … show … its not fooling anyone mind you … but it is becoming one helluva show as the demented and deranged mind of Gary Bryson becomes more evident by the comment/reply
You are as much a blight on this blog as anyone else, Martin.
You repeatedly bear false witness against people and made sure here is no reasoned discussion.
You nasty old men deserve each other.
You are a virtual sock puppet of the troll Gary Bryson … therefore your words are inconsequential and your accusations devoid of meaning
Martin, I KNOW I am not Bryson nor is he posting from here…so when you talk about IP numbers of my friends being the same as his, I KNOW you are lying.
And so do you.
The question is, who is giving you IP numbers in the first place? Either Frank is, or you ARE Frank…after all, you use the same foul language and use the same expressions and grammar. A friend is doing a computer comparison you your posts and I will know soon.
Simone,
Martin is terminally delusional. He’ll never believe you.
” Martin, I KNOW I am not Bryson nor is he posting from here…so when you talk about IP numbers of my friends being the same as his, I KNOW you are lying.
And so do you.
( actually child .. I know no such thing )
The question is, who is giving you IP numbers in the first place? Either Frank is, or you ARE Frank…after all, you use the same foul language and use the same expressions and grammar. A friend is doing a computer comparison you your posts and I will know soon ”
1) Nice try sock puppet Simone … but no one is buying it
2) Where are we getting your IP address from ? To borrow a quote from my favorite TV show from the 60’s ( ” The Prisoner ” ) … ” That would be telling ”
3) The correct term Brys**t ,… is linguistic analysis .. or more correctly … forensic linguistic analysis … all of which are well beyond the capabilities of a troll too stupid not to be using a VPN thereby allowing its IP address to be readily available to most every decent hacker imaginable
I got to had it to Frank, he has shown that when all else fails, “You can always blame the Jews.”!!!
I gotta hand it to Brys**t … whenever his back is against the wall … out comes the Diana Marie / Courtney / Simone sock puppets on ice show
My back is never against the wall martin.
The Christian backlash against Trump’s Jerusalem decision ;

Suffice it to say anyone with half a brain and an understanding of the tenuous historical balance in Jerusalem ..
.. saw this coming from a mile away . Too bad the Trump/Pence train .. has neither
Frank, I lament how far you have strayed from your father’s good teaching. I’m not saying that your parents were right about everything (none of us are), but Jesus Christ died on that cross to save sinners – Jews and Gentiles alike. I don’t believe your interpretation of Revelation is correct. I’m not sure what the proper interpretation is (regarding the 144,000), but I do believe that whosoever puts his faith and trust in Jesus – Jew and Gentile alike – will be saved. And that by the grace and mercy of God. Those who reject Christ remain condemned. John 3.
Charging right wing Christians with racist bigotry is a serious charge. Does such racist bigotry exist in evangelical Christian circles? I’m sure it does. But that doesn’t imply that the vast majority of evangelicals feel that way. Many right wing, evangelical Christians are also strongly in favor of welcoming Syrian refugees into our nation and communities. So, please, take people one at a time, and stop trying to stir up partisan hate.
Dan, you are wasting your time trying to convince Frank of anything. He is a complete reprobate with all the trimmings. He has rejected God. And God has rejected him.
Whereas Gary Bryson otherwise know as Brys**t .. is an internet troll … complete with his very own cadre of little girl sock puppets to hide behind … and nary a fact or accurate bit of information to be found within its cut & paste comments and replies

Mr Hillman – As one who has thoroughly lost his religion .. but unlike Frank not lost his faith … may I state unequivocally that the overwhelming majority of evangelical and fundamentalist Christians are in fact closet racists at best . As a wise man once said … the most segregated places in the US are the christian churches and meeting halls on Sunday
As for Frank throwing the baby out with the bathwater ..we are in agreement .. but .. in light of the polytheistic pagan cult that evangelical / fundamentalist Christianity in America has become … bowing down before the throne of Manna ( money ) .. worshiping its three bastard sons Greed – Power and Lust .. accepting the council of its oracle/holy spirit Ayn Rand … while sacrificing all aspects of Truth and Scripture upon it .
Can you honestly blame him ? I can’t . In fact in all honesty it never ceases to amaze me knowing what I know that I have not done the same
As for partisan hatred . Place the blame firmly where it belongs . Upon the shoulders of the contemporary GOP now exacerbated by the Brietbart Bannon & Trump Express …
Christian Zionists are not Zionists. They want a Jewish state with no Jews in it. They don’t like Jews or Israel except as God’s pawns.
On the other side is Frank Schaeffer who believes antisemitic canards of Jews being more loyal to Israel than America. He accuses wealthy Jews of secretly conspiring for nefarious, another classic antisemitic trope. The leftist equivalent of George Soros conspiracises.
The idea that Jews are more loyal to Israel than America is a classic antisemitic canard. The idea of rich Jews conspiring in secret for nefarious purposes is also a classic antisemitic trope. That makes you no different than those on the right who blame Soros. Your use of Adelson is just as bad. I don’t agree with Aldelson on anything, but I don’t resort to antisemitic stereotypes to criticize him.
