Trump is out to destroy the human race’s hopes of reversing climate change. He molested women and now he is raping the planet. Trump said women were forced to let him assault them because he was rich and famous. Now he is murdering our future also convinced that he can get away with it.
Let’s be clear: Trump’s rape of Mother Earth has nothing to do with serving America’s national interest. In fact it will hurt us as China takes the lead in new energy efforts. The U.S. economy, in particular, would thrive under the Paris accord. This isn’t about nationalism. It’s about anger at everyone brighter and better than the fool in the White House. Mainly it is about hatred for President Obama.
If Obama was for it, Trump’s against it. If liberals hate it, it’s good. If billionaire white men can make a buck while the rest of the world mourns– go for it! They let me, I’m rich!
Add to this the anti-intellectualism of the G.O.P. white evangelical base, for whom scientific consensus on an issue– say evolution or why gays are gay– is a minus, not a plus.
And if this sounds unbelievable- consider the ugly egomaniac character of the conman in the White House. Trump is craven, cynical and corrupt.
He rebuffed the entreaties of everyone from Elon Musk to the Pope. He ignored scientific evidence that already shows catastrophic beach erosion, cracking Arctic ice and flooding cities. Instead, he cast in with his climate change-denying EPA Administrator, Scott Pruitt, and the Koch brother lie monger barons of the world’s dirtiest industries, coal and fossil fuels.

If evolution is true, as Schaeffer believes, then ANYTHING that any human does is as natural as anything any other animal does. Evolution provides no basis for morality or meaning. No reason why there is something rather than nothing. Evolution has no purpose or goal, according to evolutionists, so a changing climate is no cause for alarm. Evolution is all about change. Life will adapt and change with it, or become extinct. But whichever way it goes, it makes no difference.
Much of what you wrote is incoherent and childish. Evolution is a well-established scientific theory. Please read “Why Evolution is True” by Dr. Jerry Coyne. You obviously know little about the subject or the inevitable effects of climate change if we don’t do something about it NOW.
joelyn, I suggest you learn the philosophical implications and conclusions that accompany evolution. Nature provides no reason for its existence, and no reason to prefer one outcome over another. If you want to accept evolution, you have to accept everything that goes with it.
Gary, I suggest you stop making assumptions about what I know about the philosophical implications and conclusions that accompany evolution especially since you are woefully ignorant of the theory of evolution. So based on your silly comments, I will ignore anything further you have to say on the subject since you are obviously just trolling this post. Cheers.
If you understood the philosophical implications and logical conclusions of evolution, you would have agreed with me that nature provides no meaning for the existence of anything, and therefore, it does not matter what happens.
If I may interject here .. as one well versed in the nuances of Evolution [ which is nothing more than a theory waiting to be disproven that even its founder Darwin later rejected ] as well as the complexities of Philosophy { PhD Philosophy of Religion w/emphasis in apologetics ]coming from a richly scientific family and being one of Christian Faith and Believer [ though do not dare to call me an Evangelical or a Fundy ] Gary is absolutely correct in his assumptions that science / evolution and nature give us no moral basis .. philosophically or otherwise to care for this little blue ball we live upon . In fact just the opposite is true . Nature teaches us survival of the fittest all else be damned and that narcism is to be treated as a virtue .. which is the foundation of the Gospel of Ayn Rand
On the other hand though we have a hypocritical Judeo-Christian world that does have via Scripture a mandate both morally and intellectually to care for the planet we have been given STEWARDSHIP .. not ownership of … a mandate for which the majority of the Judeo-Christian world choses to ignore along with a good 90% of the rest of Scripture that they claim to hold so dear
Now thats not to say all who are agnostic / atheist or of another faith do not try to hold to a vision of proper stewardship of the planet . Its just that when push comes to shove they have no moral basis / foundation to hold their vision up when that hideous human condition known as Greed & Narcism rears its ugly head
So like it or not Gary is correct Joelyn with you finding yourself backed into the proverbial philosophical / existential corner for which there is no exit other than capitulation
Also Joelyn . More importantly . Having read Gary’s comments might I suggest you look up the definition and meaning of the word Internet Troll ? Because in reality Gary is acting just the opposite of a troll .. giving his considered and well grounded opinion , using tact and reasonable argument / debate in a discussion well worth having . Which is if I may be so bold the opposite of your 11:18 comment … and to say just because you disagree and are on the losing end of things does not make either Gary or myself … a troll
FYI : Joelyn before you go off half cocked with unfounded and irrelevant assumptions … Frank and I are in accord / agreement on a good 85% of what he holds true to . including all his ‘ rants ‘ [ no negative implications intended ] against the Evangelical Church etc. and especially Humpty Trumpty
Gary, your take on evolution is not quite accurate. The changes that take place in species through evolution are results of environmental shifts that occur without the agency of humans. When humans force environmental shifts, such as the destruction of rain forests as one example, it creates such trauma to the natural world that force change, that create an artificial, new environment so suddenly that species do not have the time to adapt. Evolutionary change takes centuries, if not millennia. Life does not adapt that quickly. Just as a asteroid hitting the earth can wipe out whole species for millennia, so can human interference with the world environment. It DOES make a difference as to whether or not evolution is allowed to occur naturally, or if it is a result of catastrophic human interference.
“So let’s recap. Those who are complaining about what happened yesterday , support an Accord that does the following:
1) America must drastically reduce its emissions now, but China and India, the biggest polluters in the world, can continually increase their emissions to 2030 at which time they may or may not agree to comply with the agreement.
2) India, before it makes up its mind, demands to be paid 2.5 trillion dollars.
3) We have to reduce our coal production. China and India does not and can increase it.
4) Russia can actually increase its emissions by 50%.
5) We, along with the rest of the developed world, have to pay hundreds of millions dollars into the UN climate fund with no guarantees that any other than the United State would do it. Given their existing track record with NATO and the UN, I would expect the worse.
So…in what way does this benefit the United States? No…we don’t believe the steel industry is coming back to Youngstown. The above described agreement isn’t an agreement, it is a beat down of the United States workers and taxpayers. When China and India get serious about reducing carbon emissions, let me know. Meanwhile, I suggest they start with cleaning up New Dehli and Beijing.
It’s funny… The US…. On its own.. Has greatly reduced it’s green house emissions and carbon footprint… While others nations have not… Yet fingers are pointed at us… Not a peep about them……
Thank you President Trump for acting in OUR interests just as you promised.”
Ed,
Would you please provide verifiable sources that support your thesis: “It’s funny… The US…. On its own.. Has greatly reduced it’s green house emissions and carbon footprint… While others nations have not… Yet fingers are pointed at us… Not a peep about them……
Thank you President Trump for acting in OUR interests just as you promised.”
Many thanks,
Diana
I am 80 years old now. When I was about 8, my mother told me about the theory of evolution. She was a Methodist and believed in Jesus. From what she told me I understood that God is greater than our understanding will ever be and if
God’s Creation came about fast or slowly over vast eons, no theory, scientific or religious, could fully explain how existence as we know it came to be. Such seeming contradictions to our meager understanding should never undermine a Christian’s basic faith in God’s love and our part in IT. Such musings should have nothing to do with our responsibility to care for our neighbor and ask for God’s help in doing so.
I agree with you, Nancy, it seems as if many people prefer to have their own theory of how we all came about; our main concern at this time should be caring for each other, whether it is those who live in this country, Canada, Thailand, Brazil, India or where ever – we are all on the same earth, and who created it or how it was created should come after we do everything in our power to protect it.
And I just turned 91 a week ago, still have flowers, veggies growing, mow grass, and love my lot in life, tho I have to struggle sometimes to make ends meet. I have raised 5 children, all have gone to college, 3 after their Dad passed away and I have an associates degree. I have done a variety of things in my life from driving school bus, hanging wallpaper, supervisor and treasure of our little Township for 20 years and have loved every part of living in this great country. I believe that God has a purpose for each of us and kinda leaves it up to us to make-do what we can with it. My kids are all good to me – each in their own way and when I questioned my daughter (who has 2 masters from U of M) she replied “Mom, you raised us right”. I have had a successful life, Thank you, Lord.
Frank… I have never heard anyone say what needs to be said put so authentically and coming from the heart! Everything you say resonates with my my mind & my heart. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
many thanks!
