When Mike Pence Is President Will He Pardon Donald Trump? (WATCH the 5 minute video)

May 19, 20178 commentsFrank Schaeffer

Trump is a fool. America is in trouble. Evangelicals made him president.

Evangelical theology set the stage for Trump. So did people calling themselves Christians who did not stand up to the American evangelicals. Now what?

Many of us who voted for Trump would have preferred someone else. But not Hellary. I voted for Trump because I didn’t want to see Hellary as president. I still think I made the right decision. And I would do it again, given the alternative of Hellary Clinton.

Frank, if your “theology” is the one that is true, what are the negative consequences for those who believe the Bible?

Frank, Really? How so? If you are right about God, what happens to Bible believers when they die that is different from what happens to people like you?

Thank you for giving giddy gonna-impeach-trump “liberals” something to consider regarding Pence and his theocratic agenda. Impeaching Trump will not disempower the vast religious right network that is well funded any more than droning ISIS leaders has disempowered ISIS. To them, he is a messiah figure who is battling evil on their behalf and bringing about “His” will in America. Thank you for telling the truth. The problem is ALL of the Yahwist religions who are in “I-it” relationships with everyone outside their circle —- including nature.

Pence pardoning Trump will occur just like Ford pardoned Nixon. And Trump will go back to his businesses without a look backward. Pence will retain most of the Cabinet, particularly those like Pruitt and DeVos, who fit in with his theocratic world view. I don’t see things changing immediately, but drifting further to the right in the name of patriotism and God. Pence will continue to underfund and downplay scientific investigation since it’s not “Godly”…we’ll see more introduction of “Bible as fact” in our textbooks. It’s how I see it going down unless we get some rational people in high office and remove profit as the central motive in this country…American mainstream Christianity has replaced God with Mammon and they don’t even realize it’s been done. Witness the rise of the “prosperity gospel” pushed by religious leaders in this nation.

Jesus told us to heal the sick, clothe the naked, feed the hungry, and so on – not that we are to kick millions off their insurance, cut Medicaid and Medicare, or privatize Social Security and lower SSDI payments…everything we’re NOT supposed to do. Where’s the humanity, the caring for one’s fellow man in all of that?

Jesus also confirmed the Genesis account of creation and said marriage is the union of a man and woman as husband and wife. Mark 10: 6-8. Do you agree with Jesus about those things?

I do not. I think this is just a scribe writing a statement and not so much as something said by Jesus. I do understand the need for Jesus to verify the Adam and Eve account. If no Adam and Eve, then no original sin.
