Trump voters have changed the old saying “Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me,” to “Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice– just fine by me!”
A new ABC News/Washington Post poll taken as Trump approaches his 100th day in office (with the lowest approval rating at this point of any president since 1945) shows that 96 percent of those who supported him in November say they’d do so again today.
Are tens of millions of Americans proudly, knowingly and defiantly stupid? In his first 100 days Trump has scored zero for implementing his top 10 promises of legislative accomplishment. Zero. Yet, if the findings from a new poll are correct, Trump’s voters would do it all over again.
The new poll asked: “Would you vote for Trump again now?”
Among those who report having voted for Trump in November, 96 percent today say it was the “right thing to do.” A mere 2 percent regret it. And if a rerun of the election were held today, the poll indicates even the possibility of a Trump victory in the popular vote.
From funding construction of the border wall to spurring $1 trillion in infrastructure investments over the next decade, the president has implemented zero of the 10 major pieces of legislation he promised as a presidential candidate for his first 100 days in a contract with American voters.
Yet his voters don’t care that Trump has been all hype and zero achievement. They’d vote for him again — despite all the lies Trump has told and all the campaign promises he has betrayed.
Trump hasn’t “drained the swamp” of lobbyists; has not built his “huge” and “amazing” wall along the Mexican-American border; has not returned jobs to the United States and has not repealed the Affordable Care Act.
What Trump has done is:
- Enrich his corrupt family
- Use the Federal government as his private piggy bank charging us more for travel in any given week than the Obama family charged us in any given year
- Rape the environment in favor of his cronies and big corporations guaranteeing higher cancer rates not to mention global warming, for the rest of us
- Diminish respect for the USA globally
- Encourage dictatorships everywhere
- Side with billionaires against the rest of us.
Yet 96 percent of Trump’s voters like what they see– despite overwhelming evidence that Russian President Vladimir Putin interfered in the 2016 presidential election with the goal of installing Trump as a puppet candidate.
Trump, runs his White House like a television drama
Trump believes that projecting an image of energy and progress is as important, if not more so, than the reality. So far Trump has been proved correct and has successfully conned his voters. They’ve chosen to believe his lies instead of facts.
Trump’s white evangelical voters are used to being conned. After all these folks say they believe in Noah’s Ark but not in science, evolution or climate change. But why can Trump spin his non-evangelical dupes with impunity?
Are Trump’s supporters really this dumb or is it that they hate tolerant America and want to see tolerance fail?
Is Trump-love a form of revenge on gay, black, Hispanic and empowered female Americans? Do Trump-lovers love Trump because he hates who they hate? Is token white supremacist and misogynistic hate, reaction and bigotry more important to them than actual achievements?
Presidents are usually judged on their results… or rather they were. Trump is followed by his voters more as a cult leader than a mere president. Out of 60 promises from Trump’s voter contract, The Washington Post’s Fact Checker finds that just 5 have been kept, 5 have been broken and 36 others have had no action at all. Dismal.
This raises many questions about how tens of millions of American voters were “flipped” by a foreign power to act against our own country. Most of all this poll proves that Trump’s real “win” was over reason itself as this morally and mentally bankrupt man — blinded by his own ego — led his voters into a dead end. Trump’s win was a win for our entertainment tech-addicted “culture” not for democracy.
How can this be? Simple: Alt-“facts” are winning.
People are choosing spin over reality; Putin over America; Trump over truth.
Mass delusion is nothing unusual. Self-willed ignorance is all too human. After all some people still smoke knowing it will kill them. We eat junk knowing it’s bad. The problem is that democracy can only function if a sane majority willing to face facts usually prevails. When there are less fact-respecting and rational voters than self-deluded fact-denying “smokers” as it were claiming that “lung cancer is just fine”, we’re in trouble.

Well . . . good luck with THAT!
Great line:
“People are choosing spin over reality; Putin over America; Trump over truth.”
It’s as if they have a prophylactic over their brains that desensitizes them to reality and also helps to prevent them from realizing that ‘trickle down’ economics means getting pissed on.
It all corresponds to their being the kind of people who imagine that wealth and success will magically rub off on them if they vote for people like Trump. So, maybe we should start calling them ‘rubbers’.
Brain burqa…
thanks for reading!
I think we’re beyond “trouble.” I think this country is finished. Avalanches of evidence are produced daily to the overwhelming corruption in both the republican congress and in the White House but there is no recourse in a majority of the criminals. People think there will be an election in 2018-I do not; certainly not if polls show that voters will vote against republican policy cum fascist oligarchy. There will be a Reichstag Fire or more vote-fiddling than we’ve seen before now, but this is something the oligarchy has been working to accomplish for the past 30 years. They have done their work. They have destroyed constitutional government and effectively disenfranchised all opposition. There is, therefore, no USA. There is a sick facsimile peopled with brainless zombies. I wish I had family and contacts in another country. I’d be out of here in an instant.
Trump’s populist proposals sound great. It’s what people want to hear, but they’ll never pass, and it they did, the consequences would be troublesome. Seems the GOP did this before. Remember the Bush tax cuts that were supposed to create jobs. Clinton’s tax increase and zero deficit created millions of jobs, but Bush’s tax cuts cost millions of jobs and led to a recession. Why the Dems didn’t focus on that during the election is anyone’s guess, but it’s what cost them the election. My company, Able Professionals, will save businesses far more that they’ll get from Trump and yes men in congress.
I think many have been hurt by the erroneous teaching in HyperCalvinism that basically says that God programmed who would be “saved” and who would be “lost” before they were born. God would then be commanding some to believe something that He Himself made it impossible for them to do. No wonder many have turned away from Christianity if they thought that were true. They often refer to Ephesians 1:4 as a proof text. The problem I have with that particular verse is that the word “before” cited is not the word meaning or in reference to time sequence but it is rather in relation to position and place. This is why it can be properly stated that God, even right now, is still BEFORE the foundation of the world and from there and everywhere , CHOOSES to save , WHOSOEVER , “.. repents toward God and places their faith and trust toward The LORD Jesus Christ “(Acts 20:21).
Too many professors of Christianity today are held captive by their true God, money. Psalm 73:12
Sorry , this is not even relevant to your post.
I wish I would have had the privilege and fortune of all that you had growing up. I suppose though there was a heavy weight of responsibility and expectation that went with it. I pray God ( Holy Love) leads you . ( John 4:24; 1John 4:7,8; John 1:14;Isaiah 9:6)KJB. selah
