How to define the followers of Trump? Here are 3 ways. Trump supporters are victims of:
- A pyramid scheme of false hope built on selling empty glitter
- A desire to share in a tasteless hollow boastful claim of “the high life” that only Saudi princes and/or fatherless teens raised in a trailer park-type of cultural wilderness might also imagine is “classy”
- False expectations as the white evangelicals — who voted “pro-life” for a pagan candidate — did so holding their noses.
In the real world as Nate Cohn of The Upshot of The New York Times notes: “The people who stand to lose the most in tax credits under [Trump’s] Republican health plan tended to support Donald J. Trump…”
Bluntly: Trump, only 2 months into office, is betraying his deluded followers wholesale. The only question is as to when and how bitterly they will abandon then turn against him.
At the same time as Trump tries to strip many of his most ardent lower middle class and working class supporters of health care, and lies about everything from President Obama “wiretapping” to Russia’s involvement in his election, as The Hill reports, “President Trump paid a visit to one of his golf courses again … marking apparently his ninth visit to a golf course in the seven weeks since he took office… Trump has made several weekend trips to his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Fla., as well, calling the property the ‘Winter White House.’ ”
As budgets and programs for families, education and clean air and water are slashed Trump is spending on travel in a month as much as what the Obamas spent in any given year. This doesn’t even include the massive travel/security bill for Trump’s grown children (and his wife and young son remaining in Trump Tower in New York).
Trump’s followers will have a hard time with the fact that as they struggle on through lives of shrinking expectations with no help in sight…Trump is using the US Treasury as his personal luxury brand slush fund. They will awake to the fact that Trump’s version of “the presidency” is a (badly done) part-time job designed to boost a family brand and one insatiable ego.
The Trump clan redefines the term the undeserving rich.
As Trump tries to cancel programs like Meals on Wheels for the elderly and the poor his voters—many of whom supported him slavishly and need these programs—will notice that he’s simultaneously ramping up his personal corruption. Trump is literally cutting funding for families and education, children and health care while sucking as much personal financial gain as he can from the humblest of the American people.
Trump is an unstable small-minded ego addict hooked on the drug of adoration. He’s pimped his ill-gotten celebrity for profit for decades and used this same “method” to gain his seat at the table of power. And all he’s done so far for anyone is betray the very people who gave him his undeserved shot at elite social circles, where the crude loud braggart Trump has traditionally been persona non grata.
Trump is an uneducated non-reader’s idea of a “prosperous man” — with his gilded tasteless Saudi prince-type gold-plated glitter and … and multiple bankruptcies. He never gained entrance to the ruling class. They have scorned him. He’s spent his life as an angry tasteless joke to the people that count.
Now Trump’s appetite for the appearance of success is wedded to his seething resentment against “the elite.” He strikes out at critics like a demented child.
As Trump’s scorched earth far right fantasy budget hammers his own followers hardest; as the utter corruption of his entire family feeding at the national trough becomes sickeningly clear; as courts strike down his anti-immigrant fact-free racist “revolution”; as even the right wing of the congressional GOP turns against him; as the military inevitably loses confidence in this draft-dodger, even his followers will wake up.
When they do wake up even new doses of Trump’s lies to the bottom-dwelling ignorant white supremacist hate machine (that will be his last bedrock of support) won’t save this fake from most Americans. The only question is: How much damage will Trump do before most people who voted for him are overwhelmed with regret?

We can only hope that people will wake up. However, with the ‘alt-fact’ diet being fed to them I’m not so sure that 45 & co. won’t spin something that will allow them to continue supporting him.
The other piece seems to be that he is a willing tool through Steve Bannon and Kelly Ann. Conway of the ultra rich Mercer family and others.
Your last sentence is my biggest fear.
So I guess the answer is give everything away… I’m sorry but this article has little merit to many hard working people, small business, etc. One of the biggest issues is ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION and protecting them from any consequences. My family are licensed, bonded and insured contractors (as required by law) so their prices offset these costs (basic business principles for the common sense challenged)… they also provide health coverage and workman’s comp to their employees… in come Illegal Immigrants with none of these doing the work illegally at 1/3 the cost… so who wins? Supporting what is wrong to say you are a humanitarian is assinine… this is killing wages and destroying jobs. The author has only one thing right… he has been in office 2 months. The rest is dribble. Give the man and his policies a chance and stop the hate-filled, self-righteous attacks. You have 4 years girl scouts
Unfortunately he has created a “feed only here” climate of f-facts that most of his voters do adhere to. Like alcoholics when will they reach rock bottom and read articles like yours??
good point
